Italy’s Michele Borassi wins the 2008 World Othello Championships in Oslo

Italy finally have a World Champion after thirty years of participation at the Worlds. The young Michele Borassi who was crowned European champion only two months ago won the world title in Oslo defeating Tamaki Miyaoka of Japan in the finals.

Liya Ye of Germany won the Ladies World Champion title defeating the defending champion Yukiko Tatsumi of Japan.

And the Japanese did not go home empty handed as they won yet another team title (Miyaoka, Takizawa, Iijima).
